Lumpsum

One-time money, left to compound. At 12%, money doubles roughly every 6 years. See what one deposit becomes.

About the lumpsum calculator

A lumpsum calculator shows what a one-time investment grows to, left untouched to compound.

Lumpsum or SIP?

A lumpsum has the most time in the market, so on paper it wins if you can stay invested through falls. A SIP suits money that arrives monthly and softens the fear of investing right before a dip.

What return should I assume?

The same caution as any equity projection applies. 12 percent is a long-run assumption, not a guarantee. Lower it for a safety margin.

Should I invest a windfall all at once?

If the horizon is long, usually yes. If a large fall soon after would make you sell in a panic, spread it over a few months instead.
